3 months old!

It's hard to believe our little baby is already 3 months old! He had his 3 month check up a couple of days ago. Here are his most recent measurements:
Weight 13 lbs 15 oz (90th percentile) Height 23.25 in (50% percentile) and Head 90th percentile.
So, it appears we have a big eater, which I could have already told you because I'm the one feeding him every 1 1/2- 2 hrs in the day time. :) Thankfully he still sleeps quite well, and only wakes up to eat a little and then drifts back to sleep pretty quickly.
So, what is a day like in the life of Asher? Well first he wakes up all swaddled in his bassinet by the bed. He is usually quite happy first thing in the morning after a good rest.

After that we do a lot of feeding, catnapping, and playing. And then Asher will usually get a good walk in his baby bjorn if the weather is nice, or we do the wii stepper together. He likes that, usually makes him smile or puts him to sleep. Or sometimes a bath in the whale tub.
And then it's time for a long afternoon nap (preferably in his swing, but on a bad day all on my lap after repeatedly trying to put him down). But he sure is cute and sweet and look at those pretty blue eyes! Then David comes home and we get a few hours of family time before it's off to bed.

Auntie Nikki Comes for a Visit.

My sister was able to come out for a week and she was very happy to finally meet the baby! We had a great time playing together. We took advantage of her video camera while she was here, as ours is still on the fritz. And of course I tried to upload one of them and it wouldn't work!
Asher has an incredible ability to sense when a camera is photographing him. He will instantly stop smiling and look at the camera. We managed to capture a couple of smiles, but mostly we have a series of photos with a very serious looking baby.

Sadly our video camera died last week, so no more videos for a while. We are also working on getting a new camera; our current one seems to produce blurry pictures more often than not. It doesn't help that I am trying to take pictures of a moving wiggling baby. But here are a few pictures that turned out pretty well.

Asher's great grandmother made him this cute little bunny hat, which of course he manages to wiggle out of in a matter of minutes. But he sure looks cute!

Here is a picture of Asher 2 days old and one of him at 2 months 3 weeks old. Amazing how fast he grows!


I'm still struggling to get a really good picture of Asher's smile, he does it all the time but does not like to perform for the camera! Here he is biting his lower lip, something he does a lot.

Cute Baby Smiles

Here is a little video of Asher. It isn't the video I wanted to upload, I couldn't get that one to work for some reason, which is unfortunate because he gives some really nice smiles. He kind of smiles in this one, but you will have to endure a couple minutes of mommy baby talk until he actually does it. Feel free to turn down the volume. :)

We're Back!

We've decided to start up the old blog again now that we have a baby, and we know grandparents at least would like frequent updates.
Little Asher is doing great. He recently had his two month check up and was declared a "poster baby" by the pediatrician. He is spoiling us, or trying to ensure that he has siblings, by being an easy baby. Of course he has his moments, but we are constantly reminded how good we have it when we hear about what others have gone through.
He has now just about outgrown his newborn clothes, which made me a bit sad when I could no longer stuff him into my favorite outfit. Here are a few new pictures of our little cutie.

Quality time with the Folks

While David's parents were visiting we got around to several of the major tourist attractions in the area. We were able to visit the National Museum of American History, which has been closed for the past 2 years and has recently reopened. My favorite exhibit was to see the original Kermit the Frog muppet. We love the muppets!
We also spent some time on the mall, driving around and seeing some of the monuments.



Gettysburg is only about a 40 minute drive from where we live in Maryland, but David and I had never visited the battlefield before. It was a fascinating trip, and gave us a much better understanding of what actual happened during that battle and the entire civil war.

Unfortunately, David had to start his bar class, so while he went to class David's parents and I went to Mount Vernon. It was a beautiful day and the grounds and museums of Mount Vernon are amazing. Later that day we picked up David and headed over to Great Falls, a beautiful national park. We had a wonderful time, and hope we'll have more family and friends out to visit!
