Asher's blessing

Asher was blessed about a month ago. We were sad to not have any family out here but we were happy to have our good friends Gary and Barbara come out from Maryland. It was a very nice blessing and I particularly noted thoughts on the service Asher might bring to others. He is such a sweet happy baby and we just love him more and more everyday.

4 months old!

Our little baby is growing up so fast! Asher is doing great and we really enjoy seeing him develop and learn. He is laughing almost everyday and likes to be tickled. He is able to roll over from his tummy to his back, and likes to suck on his first two fingers. He has recently discovered his feet and likes to grab them. He always has a great big smile in the morning when you go to pick him up. Lately he hasn't been sleeping quite so well, sometimes waking up right after we put him down. This made for a few long nights. He has never really liked his pacifier, so that didn't help much at night. I decided to get him a new kind of pacifier and he has really taken to it. He is still waking up but if I give him the pacifier right away he will instantly go back to sleep, as opposed to having to nurse him back to sleep after only being down for a half hour.
His weight gain has slowed down even though he still eats very frequently. Current stats:
Height 24.25 in (46th %) Weight 14 lbs 15 oz (56th %) Head (70%).
The pediatrician asked me if big heads run in the family. My response: "Ummm...I never thought to ask."

Easter

We had a very nice low key Easter here. Asher got a cute new little outfit from his grandma and aunt and had a little Easter basket. He, of course, was oblivious to it all, but I'm sure next year he'll start to get the hang of things.

Our new camera has some limited video abilities. I managed to capture Asher laughing a few days ago! So adorable!

Spring!

The trees and flowers are really in bloom this week! Up until now we've always lived in a high rise apartment, it is so nice to have a little backyard and actually have some plants and flowers around us. Here is our townhouse with the tree in front covered in gorgeous pink blossoms.

We got Asher a little bumbo like seat so that he can sit up unassisted and practice using those kneck muscles. The seat also came with this circular tray with some little toys on it, although at this point he still hasn't shown a lot of interest in toys. But he's started to grab at them a little bit.



We recently got a new camera and realized that we have almost no pictures of us with the baby, so we are trying to make an effort to take a few.



And I just had to add these two because I think he looks adorable!

3 months old!

It's hard to believe our little baby is already 3 months old! He had his 3 month check up a couple of days ago. Here are his most recent measurements:
Weight 13 lbs 15 oz (90th percentile) Height 23.25 in (50% percentile) and Head 90th percentile.
So, it appears we have a big eater, which I could have already told you because I'm the one feeding him every 1 1/2- 2 hrs in the day time. :) Thankfully he still sleeps quite well, and only wakes up to eat a little and then drifts back to sleep pretty quickly.
So, what is a day like in the life of Asher? Well first he wakes up all swaddled in his bassinet by the bed. He is usually quite happy first thing in the morning after a good rest.

After that we do a lot of feeding, catnapping, and playing. And then Asher will usually get a good walk in his baby bjorn if the weather is nice, or we do the wii stepper together. He likes that, usually makes him smile or puts him to sleep. Or sometimes a bath in the whale tub.
And then it's time for a long afternoon nap (preferably in his swing, but on a bad day all on my lap after repeatedly trying to put him down). But he sure is cute and sweet and look at those pretty blue eyes! Then David comes home and we get a few hours of family time before it's off to bed.
